Stakeholder Analysis

Once stakeholders have been identified, stakeholder analysis tools such as Stakeholder Radar or the Stakeholder Power and Interest Grid can be used when mapping stakeholders to understand the level of interest and importance of the stakeholders, as well as recommend the level of engagement.

Depending on where stakeholders are placed on the Stakeholder Radar or in the Power and Interest Grid,  you can tailor the level and type of engagement you have with them.  Both template documents are used for the same purpose.

You can also group stakeholders into those affected by change and those delivering change.

Stakeholder Analysis Templates

Stakeholder Radar Analysis and Stakeholder Power and Interest Grid templates can be used when mapping stakeholders to understand the level of interest and importance of the stakeholders.

Stakeholder Radar Analysis

The stakeholder radar can be used when mapping stakeholders to understand the level of interest and importance of the stakeholders. Depending on how close to the centre of the radar informs the level of engagement, from vital to engage, through necessary to engage, good to have on board and finally courtesy to inform.

Stakeholder Power and Interest Grid

The stakeholder power and interest grid is an alternative way to analyse and map stakeholders. Stakeholders are mapped across two axis for power (or influence) and interest ranging from high to low. This then suggests whether the stakeholder should be monitored, kept informed, kept satisfied or managed closely. Once completed, this grid can also be used to show the status of existing relationships with stakeholders, where relationships are in place between stakeholder groups and through the use of arrows where it would be useful for that stakeholder to be placed in the future.
