Stakeholder Identification
A stakeholder is any individual, group or organisation (internal or external) that will be affected by, or perceive themselves as affected by, the change activity or project. It is important these stakeholders are identified to ensure they are appropriately engaged and communicated with. Building this understanding at the outset of the project will help to inform the scope, highlight stakeholders who can support the delivery and act as champions, as well as outline potential challenges.
There are many different techniques you can use to inform stakeholder identification including: checking organisation charts, accessing the University directory, brainstorming with other members of the project team, reviewing lessons learned from past projects and developing process maps.
